A note from our Artistic Director

Dear Family, Friends, and Supporters of womanSong,

Please join womanSong for our concert Comfort and Joy at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Christ Church United Methodist Church in Charleston, WV. Our program includes compositions by Laura Farnell, Rosephanye Powell, Jake Runestad, Dan Forrest, and Eric Whitacre. This musical celebration combines winter scenes, holiday themes and the joy of family and community.

On behalf of the members of womanSong Chorale of WV, I would like to thank our audience for their continued support. For more than 25 years, womanSong has performed in the Kanawha Valley as well as other areas of West Virginia, throughout the United States, and in other countries. With your support, we were able to share our music in Dublin, Ireland, this past June. Your support also allows us to collaborate in the spring of 2026 with La Caccina, a Chicago-based ensemble, for a workshop and concert in Charleston, WV.

We are pleased to bring vocal arts to so many venues. Giving the gift of music to our community will remain our focus this season as part of the womanSong mission. Please watch for other performance announcements on this website, as well as our Facebook page. We hope to see you at all of our concerts this year.

womanSong chorale of West Virginia is the only all-female community choir in West Virginia. womanSong brings local female singers together in a community that shares a commitment to excellence in musicianship and a passion for performing. Under the direction of Jeanette Bowlby, womanSong incorporates traditional, classical, contemporary, and multicultural styles of music into concert repertoire and highlights works by female composers.

womanSong is more than just a chorus. We're a family. Every rehearsal is a chance to catch up with friends, and every performance is a time to share our love of music with our audience and with each other. We have had many fantastic opportunities to travel for performances and spend time outside of rehearsal together, and we think our friendship helps us perform at our very best.

womanSong rehearses and performs primarily in the Charleston, West Virginia area, occasionally collaborating with other local musicians. The members of womanSong come from various backgrounds and occupations but are united by the goal of bringing beautiful music to West Virginia and sharing West Virginia's musical talent with the world.
